Brian Marsh OBE
Brian started his career in insurance broking and underwriting in Lloyd’s and the London and overseas market over 55 years ago and was, from 1979 to 1990 chairman, of the Nelson Hurst & Marsh group, before founding the Group. He has over 50 years’ experience in building, buying and selling financial services businesses particularly in the insurance sector.
Alice Foulk BA (Hons)
Alice joined B.P. Marsh in September 2011 having started her career at a leading Life Assurance company. In 2014 she took over as Executive Assistant to the Chairman, running the Chairman’s Office and established herself as a central part of the Management Team.
In February 2015 she was appointed as a Director of B.P. Marsh and a member of the Investment Committee. In January 2016 Alice was appointed Managing Director of B.P. Marsh.
In her position as Managing Director, Alice is responsible for the overall performance of the Company and monitoring the Company’s overall progress towards achieving the objectives and goals of the Company, as set by the Board.
Daniel Topping MCSI, ACIS, BA (Hons)
Chief Investment Officer
Dan Topping is the Senior Executive with overall responsibility for the portfolio and investment strategy for B.P. Marsh, working alongside the Board and the Investment Directors to find, structure, develop, support and monitor the portfolio.
Dan was appointed as a Director in 2011 having joined B.P. Marsh in February 2007, following two years at an independent London accountancy practice. In January 2016 Dan was appointed Chief Investment Officer of B.P. Marsh.
Dan graduated from the University of Durham in 2005 and is member of the Securities and Investment Institute and the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.
Camilla (Millie) was appointed to the main board in 2011, following her appointment as Head of Investor Relations in 2009. She has dual responsibilities within the Group, running both Investor Relations and the New Business Department and is Chair of the New Business Committee evaluating new investment opportunities.
Millie has two nominee directorships across one investee company and is a member of the Investment Committee. She has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, including numerous Board appointments and is a Member of the Investor Relations Society.
Jonathan Newman ACMA, CGMA, MCSI
Group Director of Finance
Jon is a Chartered Management Accountant with over 17 years’ experience in the financial services industry and is responsible for the Group’s finance function. In addition Jon currently serves as a Board Director for Walsingham Motor Insurance Limited, and provides senior financial advice to all companies within the Group’s portfolio. Jon was the appointed Board Director for Hyperion Insurance Group Limited and oversaw the successful sale of the majority of the Group’s holding to General Atlantic in 2013.
Jon graduated from the University of Sheffield with an honours degree in Business Studies and joined the Group in November 1999, following two years at Euler Trade Indemnity and two years at a Chartered Accountants. He was appointed a Director of B.P. Marsh & Company Limited In September 2001, and Group Finance Director in December 2003 and was instrumental in the admission of the Group to AIM in February 2006. He is a Member of the Chartered Global Management Accountants, the Chartered Management Accountants and the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment.
Campbell has over 45 years’ experience in the Lloyd’s and overseas insurance broking and underwriting markets. Having started his career in 1966 Campbell has worked for a number of Lloyd’s insurance broking and underwriting firms during this time, including, inter alia, Nelson Hurst & Marsh, Citicorp Investment Limited, Marsh & McLennan Companies and Admiral/Encon Underwriting.
Pankaj Lakhani FCCA
Non Executive Director
A Certified Accountant, Pankaj Lakhani has over 30 years’ experience in the Financial Services sector, primarily within Lloyd’s and overseas insurance broking and underwriting markets. Having started his career in 1977 as Audit Manager for Ball Baker Leake (now part of PKF), Pankaj then worked for a number of Lloyd’s insurance broking and underwriting firms during this time, including a 20 year tenure as Financial Director of Victor O. Shinnerer & Co Ltd (trading as Admiral/Encon Underwriting Agencies).
Stephen Clarke FCA
Non Executive Director
Stephen is a Chartered Accountant with many years’ experience in structuring Venture Capital Projects. Stephen has worked at KPMG, the Industrial Reorganisation Corporation (a Government Merchant Bank) and was appointed Director of Charterhouse Development Capital. As well as qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, Stephen has a Diploma in Management Development from Harvard Business School.
Stephen has held many Directorships including at Nelson Hurst & Marsh, one of Lloyd’s of London’s largest Managing Agency Groups and has had Directorships of numerous Lloyd’s and non Lloyd’s Insurance Brokers.
Stephen joined the Group in 1993 and provides specialist advice to the Board on entry and exit deals, with a prominent role in the Group’s investments into Besso and LEBC.
Nicholas Walker, MSc, BA (Comb Hons)
Non Executive Director
Nick has over 30 years’ experience in the Financial Services sector. Nick started his career at the Bank of America International and joined Citicorp Investment Bank in 1988 where he was appointed Country Head of its Spanish and Portuguese M&A Team. In 1991 Nick co-founded Socios Financieros S.A., a leading Madrid based independent corporate advisory firm. Socios Financieros has advised on over 250 successfully completed transactions since its founding and Nick primarily focussed on advising multinationals and private equity funds on major cross-border M&A transactions.
Nick is a member of the Audit Committee and Remuneration Committee and a Nominee Director on the Board of Summa Insurance Brokerage S.L..

Sinead O’Haire LLB (Hons) ACIS
Group Company Secretary
Sinead is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators and joined B.P. Marsh in 2009, becoming appointed as Group Company Secretary in June 2011. Sinead attends all Board and Committee meetings and works closely with the Chairman and the Board in matters of governance and to oversee the effective functioning and leadership of the Company, as well as ensuring compliance with the stock market regulations. Sinead is a member of the New Business Committee and is responsible for negotiating and finalising the legal aspects of new investments and any follow-on funding, and eventually, the exit process.
Oliver Bogue BA (Hons) GradICSA
Oliver joined B.P. Marsh as the Assistant Company Secretary in August 2011. Having graduated from the University of Manchester with an honours degree, he is a Graduate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries. As Assistant Company Secretary Oliver assisted the Group Company Secretary on a wide ranging scope of Company governance and legal matters. In March 2016, Oliver was appointed as a Investment Director at B.P. Marsh. He is a member of the New Business Committee and also acts as the Company’s Nominee Director on the Boards of Summa Insurance Brokerage, Stewart Specialty Risk Underwriting Ltd, LEBC Holdings Limited and LEBC Group Limited.
Abigail Barber BA (Hons), ACSI
Abi Barber started at B.P. Marsh in December 2013, having graduated from University of Manchester with an Honours degree in Criminology. In 2014 she became Executive Assistant to the Investment Director, Daniel Topping, assisting him in his day-to-day duties both within the Company and its portfolio of investments. She is also a member of the New Business Committee and is responsible for dealing with all new business enquiries. Abi has recently completed the Lloyd’s London Market Insurance Test and has achieved Level 3 CISI Certificate in Corporate Finance. In March 2016 Abi was appointed as an Investment Associate at B.P. Marsh.
Harriett Osmond BA (Hons)
Executive Assistant to the Investment Department
Harriett graduated from The University of Leeds with an Honours degree in History. In February 2016 Harriett joined the Company as the Finance Assistant where she assisted with the routine running of the Finance Department. In April 2017 she became Executive Assistant for the Investment Department where she supports the day-to-day duties of the Investment Department.
James Smillie LLB (Hons)
Assistant Company Secretary
James joined B.P. Marsh in February 2016 as the Assistant Company Secretary, having previously worked in legal recruitment. He graduated from the University of Liverpool with a LLB Honours degree. As Assistant Company Secretary, James assists the Group Company Secretary on a wide ranging scope of Company governance and legal matters.
Michelle Albert BSc (Hons), FCCA
Michelle is a Chartered Certified Accountant and manages the Group’s day-to-day finance function, assisting the Group Director of Finance. Michelle graduated from Kingston University in 2001 with an honours degree in Geography and joined B.P. Marsh in 2007, having started her career as a trainee accountant in public practice, initially at Kingston Smith for a year, followed by five years at Blinkhorns Accountants where she qualified as a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
Francesca joined B.P. Marsh in January 2013 as Finance Assistant, having spent the previous 5 years working within a number of finance functions at a music royalties company. Francesca assists with the routine running of the Finance department and is currently studying to become an ACCA qualified accountant. In March 2016 Fran was appointed as Financial Accountant.
Emmeline joined the B.P. Marsh team in August 2017 as the Finance Assistant. Emmeline graduated from London Southbank University with an Honours degree in 2013 and prior to joining B.P. Marsh she worked with a West-End Theatre Agency as their Finance Assistant. Emmeline assists the Financial Accountant and wider Finance Department with a varied range of accounting duties.
Emily studied at the University of Southampton, graduating in July 2017 with a B.A. Honours in English Literature & History before joining B.P. Marsh in August 2017 as the Office Assistant. Emily has a wide range of duties and is responsible for supporting the Company’s different business units as well as the day to day running of the office.
